Why Leviticus was written
To instruct Israel in the sacrificial system, priestly duties, and laws of purity and holiness, establishing the means by which a fallen people can draw near to the holy God who dwells among them.

How Leviticus points to Christ
Every sacrifice in Leviticus finds its fulfilment in Christ's atoning death (Heb. 9–10). The Day of Atonement prefigures Christ as both High Priest and sacrifice. The repeated command 'be holy' is fulfilled in Christ's righteousness imputed to believers.
